Clean Water, Healthy Communities, Stronger Future.

Every drop of clean water changes a life.

VivaDrops partners with rural and peri-urban communities to build safe water points, dignified sanitation and hygiene habits that last long after the project team leaves.

Who We Are

Water is a right, not a favour.

VivaDrops is a youth-led social enterprise developing climate resilient drinking water solutions for underserved communities in Zimbabwe.

01

Every project begins with a community assembly, not a drill rig.

02

Local technicians are trained and paid to service each water point.

Meet Our Founder

Mercy, Founder and Project Lead of VivaDrops

Who built VivaDrops

Mercy is a Zimbabwean-born youth social entrepreneur and the Founder & Project Lead of VivaDrops.

Passionate about water security, climate resilience, community health and inclusive development, she founded VivaDrops as a youth-led initiative developing climate-resilient drinking-water solutions for underserved communities in Zimbabwe.

Mercy's interest in water security is rooted in her experience growing up in rural Zimbabwe, where access to safe and reliable water remains a daily challenge for many communities. Through VivaDrops she is building decentralised community water systems that combine rainwater harvesting, borehole backup, appropriate water treatment, storage and solar-powered infrastructure.

As Founder & Project Lead, Mercy leads project development, community engagement, partnerships, pilot implementation and strategic development — building water solutions that communities can operate, maintain and eventually replicate.

Our Programs

Four programmes, one continuous chain of care.

Clean water without sanitation and hygiene training does not protect a community. We deliver all three together, then hand the keys to a trained local committee.

Water

Safe Water Points

Boreholes, protected springs and solar-powered pumps sized to the real daily demand of the community they serve.

Support this programme
Sanitation

Sanitation Infrastructure

Ventilated pit latrines, school blocks and safe sludge management designed together with local masons.

Support this programme
Hygiene

Hygiene Education

Handwashing stations, school clubs and household visits that turn new infrastructure into daily habits.

Support this programme
Ownership

Water Committees

Training, spare-part funds and mobile payment systems so each community can run and repair its own water point.

Support this programme

Our first pilot, and the numbers behind it.

We are at the start of our work and would rather measure it honestly than dress it up. Our first pilot is being co-designed, co-managed and co-owned with the community it serves, and delivered in partnership with The Zimbabwe Ministry of Health and Child Care and ZINWA.

0

Starting point to test the system, measure water quality and reliability, understand community needs and build a model that can be sustainably replicated

0

Targeted volume of rainwater to be harvested and treated during the pilot system

0

Community members trained to run daily operations and share in every decision

0

Targeted reduction in household water-related costs once the system is running

How VivaDrops Works

From the first community meeting to three years of aftercare, every project follows the same four-step rhythm so each system is built to be owned, run and repaired locally.

Listen first

Six weeks of household surveys, water testing and community meetings before any design work begins.

Build together

Local masons, drillers and technicians do the work, with our engineers supervising quality at every stage.

Train the committee

A nine-member water committee learns bookkeeping, chlorination, pump maintenance and tariff collection.

Stay for three years

Quarterly monitoring, spare-parts support and refresher training until the system stands on its own.

Our Impact

Recent projects, in the field.

Solar Water Pumping System

Solar Water Pumping System

Our Phase II grant-funded solar pumping installation, commissioned in October 2024 with a 1.2 kWp array feeding a protected community storage tank.

Community Water Storage

Community Water Storage

A 10,000-litre tank and pump house built with local masons, fenced for safety and maintained by a trained village water committee.

Community Voices

What our partners say about us.

VivaDrops belongs to the communities it serves. These are unfiltered reflections from the people we build alongside, on how we listen, deliver and stay.

VivaDrops did not arrive with a finished plan. They sat with our families, tested our water and asked what we actually needed. Now we have a committee that runs the water point ourselves, and someone is trained to fix the pump when it needs it.

What stood out was the honesty. They told us the pilot would take time, they measured every step, and they kept coming back after the cameras left. As a mother, that is the kind of partner I trust with my children's health and our family's water.

Our Global Goals

Water sits at the heart of the Sustainable Development Goals.

We measure our work against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Goal 6 — clean water and sanitation for all — is the centre of everything we do, and the water we build pulls more goals forward with it.

6

SDG 6 — Clean Water & Sanitation

Our entire mission: safe water, dignified sanitation and hygiene education for communities that live without them.

Core focus
3

SDG 3 — Good Health & Wellbeing

Safe water and handwashing cut diarrhoeal disease, still one of the biggest killers of young children.

4

SDG 4 — Quality Education

School water points and handwashing stations keep children, especially girls, in class instead of fetching water.

13

SDG 13 — Climate Action

Solar pumping and protected sources build water systems that withstand drought and a changing climate.
